God, I wish my car would get stolen too. In the sense that I would retrieve it with a brand new look. I am talking about a total makeover, though! Take the case of Brooklyn 8th grade teacher Amanda Pogany. Her rather scrappy ole’ 1996 Honda Accord got stolen three years ago. Then an NYPD call got her car back. This time, she couldn’t believe her eyes that she almost didn’t recognize her car. Know why? Her car just got pimped with a performance-ready V-8 engine, tinted windows, oversized tires with special hubcaps - and custom valve stem caps shaped like bullet casings. That’s what I call double blessing!
At first, the cops where laughing when she insisted on tracking down her car. It was as good as dead when it was already assumed torn into pieces already. Guess it’s a case of sentimental value. But when she got a call from NYPD officer that her car was tracked down during a buy-bust operation on a chop shop raid, she was in awe upon seeing her car totally souped up, complete with leather interior and hanging a dominican flag and a giant wooden cross form the rearview mirror. It turned out that a car enthusiast has bought from the thieves and was about to pay out for the brand-new manual transmission about to be installed when the raid occured.
One thing that confuses me: I don’t know that religion could spell the difference in not being able to drive a car that rad with a manual transmission. “I’m Jewish,” Pogany said, “and I don’t even know how to drive a stick shift”. Oh, Pogany has a one-year old kid and teaches Judaic Studies and Hebrew language at the Solomon Schechter School of Manhattan. Read on the article from NY Daily News for more.
“I was like, ‘Shut up!’” said Pogany, who teaches Judaic Studies and Hebrew language at the Solomon Schechter School of Manhattan.
