Following the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s report on its initial findings that the 2005 runaway Toyota Prius in New York was caused by driver error and not a manufacturer defect, local police at Harrison conducted a follow-up investigation on the case and agreed that it was human error by not applying the brakes during the incident.

Based on the findings, there was an open open throttle and a lack of pedal application, sending the vehicle to a head-on collision through a wall in Harrison New York. Earlier, the department was a bit peeved by the NHTSA investigation that “it came to a conclusion way too quickly.” With its own inquiry, the local police arrived at a conclusion that “driver error was the cause of the crash.”

The development was kind of breather for the suffocated and ailing Japanese automaker, which has been receiving nothing but rants through the weeks. More details on Autoblog.
